Can anyone tell me what the tap side is for the clutch side of crankshaft? Needless to say I must of over tightened or cross threaded. 98 Super Rat.

If you are referring to the clutch nut, it is M14 left hand thread, and if the threads are crossed, you would need a die not a tap. But you should not use a die to clean up crossed threads, especially on a heat treated crank end. Thread chasers do that, but I still wouldn't use one here.

Finding a die in metric reverse thread would be difficult and expensive. Just get a metric thread file, under $20, and use it carefully. If it is the nut that is crossed up, not the crank, just buy a new nut.

Are you sure the threads are crossed, or have you been trying to engage the nut by turning it to the right?

Jack, yes a die, I meant to say. Thanks, I will try a file and see where I get. You don't even want to know what I did. But thanks for the info!
