wham bam bumpy ride

I rode the Bad Rock in the early 70's, the only race I never finished, but I was there and fondly remember it well. I did not finish a few years ago, when all I did was remove the old ace 90 racer from under the bench, air the tires and head for Athena. Now there are three finishes, great ride. My rear shocks are functioning worse than poorly. I am going slower, never on the pegs and weigh additional pounds. Rough rough rough, does anyone have some used shocks somewhat better than stock you would trade me? The old racer had run gerlings why did I take them off? Have many parts Hope my plea does not offend anyone.----Clarence

Very reasonable, I am trying to stay closer in tune with my old ace 90 racer. Plus an effort to show others you do not have to spend thousands to have a fun bike. I would like to see more of the hodakas running and enjoyed rather than junked out. Plus I like to deal with friends and I am a trader. Just thought some rich guy like you would have taken off a quality pair and replaced them with the top of the line. my 75 miles per year does not justify that. -----------Clarence

Clarence,

50 year old shocks are 50 year old shocks. By this time, even NOS shocks of that vintage would likely not last long. I tossed both the original Ace B shocks and the 70's vintage Mavericks I raced on years ago because they simply didn't get the job done any longer.

While I was sceptical of the inexpensive imported "remote reservoir" shocks such as Vic has shown, by all accounts they do work. And where else are you going to find new shocks for $70 a pair?

But I am looking for a functional pair from the past, could be a pair off a triumph, ossa ect, reflecting the era. ---Clarence
