Hello All,
I need some creative solutions on keeping my '72 Wombat (94)'s license plate from continuing to break from vibration. it has the stock, tail light mount for the plate, that I'd like to retain, I just don't want to have to worry about losing it.

Currently its fractured near the top two mounting holes. I was thinking about backing it with some aluminum thin plate or with a thin- ish rubber mat. Anyone fought this battle before? (I can't be the first )

I have found a thousand uses for old motorcycle inner tubes. Sounds like a good spot for a home made rubber insulation damper. A one inch wide strip glued to the bracket wont show and should stop the buzzing that's causing the thin tin plate to crack. Just cut a slit in the rubber for the license plate bolts.

I used to mount my plates to a sheet of reinforced rubber, about 1/8" thick. I made the rubber approx. the same size as the plate, but left approx. 3/4" above the plate. I then mounted the plate to the rubber mat and with the extra 3/4" above the plate, I would mount to the plate holder on the taillight. This way, the plate was completely isolated from the vibration from the bike.
