Hello,

I am in the process of cleaning up the wheels on my Ace 100 trials bike project.I would like to do it in house and was wondering what methods you guys/gals use?

It does not have to be a show quality shine, just a bit better looking than I have them now.

The photos show a before shot and an after shots from a quick clean up with CLR and a brass scrub brush.

Thanks in advance for any help or tips on what works for you.

A gray Scotch-Brite pad works well on aluminum.

1000 grit wet/dry sand paper with water will make it shine again, then add a clear coat so the aluminum doesn't tarnish. ; D Victor

I soda blasted mine. But that requires a decent sized compressor. I use a hand held sand blaster, the type with the hopper on top so its gravity feed. Holds nearly a 2lb box of Arm and Hammer baking soda. Removes the dirt and the corrosion but doesn't harm the finish. After that I polish with Autosol and the buffer wheel. Not a prefect job but clean enough for me.
