Wow! Long story involving ex-wife but a treasure trove of pictures has arrived from decades past via my daughter. Photography in the day wasn't great but it did record a bit of Hodaka and Max's history. In this case a few pictures of my very first 1965 Ace 90 and part of its evolution into a serious short tracker into the early '70s. Notice that the very first Bell Star helmets have arrived and I got one of the first by special order as a Bell dealer.
The Ace 90 ran its 90cc cylinder for over a year after the Ace 100s came out but it finally became time to add some displacement. Here's the pictures of the process dated November 69.
Before the early Super Rats, racers served multi-purpose roles. The Ace 90 could be a Saturday night short tracker and with a few quick changes be a Sunday MXer. After we received the first Super Rats the Ace 90 went on to being a serious full time short tracker.
