I liked the magnet trick. I'm always fighting with the bearing and grease doesn't always hold it securely enough! That's a great tip for the future! Thanks!!! ; D Victor

Your videos are much appreciated. A great source of info and techniques.
I disassembled my B+ project last winter and will soon be back at it. Is the throw out bearing you mention referred to as the "Clutch disc" in the parts book? (part number 43 in my Complete Hodaka Master Parts List book schematic B)
I just want to be sure I'm not missing anything. I don't recall any other parts in this area when taking it apart.
thanks!
Ken

Ken, the official name of the part is "clutch pressure piece" PN 901507 on the Ace 100 B+. It is a little metal cylinder that fits in a recess cast into the clutch cover between the clutch lever (PN 901503) and clutch disk (PN 904020). The exact same piece also doubles as the kick rollers in the kick starting mechanism of other models such as chrome tank Squirts and Wombats. In clutch function, it exerts inward force on the clutch disk through the rotating cam action of the clutch lever to disengage the clutch. It is held in position by compression alone and is susceptible to loss during assembly/disassembly (don't ask how I know this). Thus the magnet.

Great! Thanks Matt. I found it on the parts schematic. Now I have to see if I have it in my parts. I do have a second set of kick rollers so if its missing I assume I can substitute one of those?
I can see how easily it could be lost. And the parts and service books don't really show it clearly in place.

You are absolutely right. It's position is a bit vague on the schematics because it is not really "connected" to anything but if you look at the inside of the clutch cover you can see the circular recess where it registers just inside of the clutch lever. In the Ace 100B+ I'm concerned that the kick rollers and the clutch pressure piece are NOT one and the same and thus may NOT be interchangeable. They do have different part numbers on the B+. I know for sure that PN 901507 (pressure piece on the B+) are also the kick rollers on chrome tank Dirt Squirts and Wombats. The kick rollers on the B+ are given PN 904713. I referred to Bill Chapman's very well done parts compatability spread sheet to look into this but didn't see overlap. I would suggest contacting Paul at SH for confirmation or hopefully someone much MUCH smarter that me can weigh in on this issue here on the forum. The good news - PN 901507 is about four bucks.

Great Video ,thanks for taking the time to make them.
Have always struggled with fitting the kick lever!
Removing the clutch cover seems so obvious now.
I like the magnet too - have to look for a hard drive to wreck now...

Thank you very much Clarence. The expertise on this forum is a great help for those of us not totally familiar with Hodaka's.
