Wow, the Canonball Run stopped in my hometown of Parsons, Kansas today on its trip from New Jersey to California. All motorcycles and they must be 100 years old or older! Check out some of these guys and rides. Amazing to say the least! Here's a few, I'll try to post more tomorrow.

What a neat happening! I loved the last photo. A 1914 Harley still oiling after all these years . . . leather belt drive . . . a 50's(ish) pudding pot helmet . . . and what appears to be an LED headlight.

And how awesome it is that the 1914 is so sweaty-crisp. Little flecks of original paint still holding forth. A real machine. Probably went LED operated off an aux battery for the head lamp because most service stations may just not stock carbide for the acetylene lamp these days.

The first bikes begin to arrive in my home town of Parsons Ks.

This hi-speed run was hard for the photographer to follow! I think this a Shaw motorbike manufactured over 100 years ago in SE Kansas near my hometown. With it's small displacement the rider said he had to get off and push on some of the steeper hills on the journey!

Also I always have to photograph anything with my number of 32 on it!

OK, the last three. Dozens more arrived in a toad-strangler rain storm after I left (also drenched). I think the event was put off for the rest of the day.

Wonderful!!! I pzrticularly like the 'stache and the boots of the organic unit of bike #46.

Would it count if I add my age together to my 1982 Yamaha to equal 100 years old? Then I could ride it....

Just now looked up the results. It finished in Carlsbad California Saturday, September 24. 15 bikes completed the 3220 mile run with no penalty points. Not bad for pre 1917 things. Google Cannonball for results, looks like Henderson, although several brands were represented, was the bike to ride.

Wow, the road is not safe at 45 MPH. A dune buggy crashed one of the $100,000 Excelsiors near the end of the race and then left the scene. He was aprehended later with no insurance or money. Luckily the rider was not seriously injured. Beware!

Some people just plain suck! That's horrible. A 100+ year old motorcycle gets ridden 3200 miles then is taken out by some hit-and-run tool in a dune buggy. UGH!!
