Thank you for the pictures, now to get exact details on engine and bike, you need to find frame number and eng. number on right case half and look up info on Pauls web site for identifying a Hodaka, How To do it. then you can start there and get more details on the specific engine, as questions come in. The bike is for sure a Road Toad, eng. can be anything with a steel barrel. Good Luck. Bruce Young

I agree. Looks like a Road Toad frame for sure. The left engine case over the magneto is marked Ace 100. It is likely an Ace 100 motor. Serial number for the motor will be on the right front case half by the clutch activator. Serial number for the frame is stamped on the VIN PLATE if it still has one, and on the left frame gusset near the bottom of the gusset if no VIN PLATE to inspect or not readable. Good luck. On the Strictly Hodaka home page there is an "Identify Your Bike" tab when you click on the black box to bring up the menus. It will appear near the top of the list on the left hand side of the screen when you click the menu button. Good luck and let us know what you find out! ; D Victor

The frame serial number indicates that the frame is from a 1975 Road Toad Model 99. It falls in that serial number range.
I've been told there might be some errors in the Super Rat published numbers, but according to the chart the serial number for the motor falls in the range of a 1971 Model 93A Ace 100MX aka the Super Rat. Can't confirm with 100% accuracy, but based on your numbers that's what it looks like to me.
That Ace motor may be worth something, IF it can be confirmed that it is a 1971 Super Rat motor! But don't hold me to it...
The Road Toad & Ace motors both fit the Road Toad frame you have. You wouldn't be doing a full factory restore with the combination, but if you restore that Ace 100MX motor and run it in that Road Toad frame, you'd have quite a nice running off road dirt bike!
If you wanted to go with lighting, you'd need to check the stator to see how many coils it has. ; D Victor

The engine looks to me like a standard Ace 100 engine. Rat engine serial numbers started with the letter M. The cylinder and head also appear to be Ace items judging by the cooling fin arrangement.

After further discussion I'm advised the Rats only had M prefixes so this is just a 1969-70 Ace motor, I believe. The chart on the web page does have errors. ; D Victor
