Ring size versus piston size

Post by spudman »

Hey guys -
Just a quick question...I ordered a +.50 Wiseco piston kit and received it yesterday. The piston was stamped with "51.25 mm" on the dome, but the bag with the rings in it was labeled, "51.50 mm ring set." Is it normal for the rings to be .25 mm larger than the piston, or was this an error and somehow the wrong rings got packaged with this piston? Thanks in advance for any help in clarifying this.

I'd say it was an oops moment. Rings should match the piston, not that you can't get those to work, but you' have to file them down to get the correct end gap. Best bet is to contact the person you get them from and see if they have the correct ones for that piston
