Hey Guys, How do I get my CDI (Super Rat 98) back on the crankshaft? Is there a tool to hold it while I tighten the nut? Maybe a strap wrench? Help......Thanks,Linc

It is keyed, but I had to use a special puller to get it off...

The puller is because the shaft is a taper, the key will hold it in place while you tighten up the nut, which will reset it on the taper.

But . . . how to you go about keeping the rotor/crankshaft from turning as torque is applied to the nut?

(strap wrench, well cushioned large channel lock pliers, other?)

Took a while for it to sink in, but, how about putting the clutch back on the other side of the crank and holding it while tightening the rotor. I think I will try that today....

If the top end is on, you can feed a length of rope into the spark plug hole, enough to keep the piston from making it to TDC. Then tighten the nut, the rope will not harm the top end. Once tight, take the rope out (otherwise, the engine won't run very well).

Depends on what stage of the motor assembly is complete. You can lock up gears, I have a tool that stops the piston before TDC, I don't think I've ever held on to the rotor itself.

Thanks Rick, that "clutch holding tool" will come in real handy.
