I just got a GoPro for Father's Day. Which is preferred for riding---helmet, chest, or handlebar mount?

Yes.

OK. It all depends . . . take a look at some footage on YouTube and decide which mount you'd like to try first. Nothing says you can't try 'em all. I'm partial to the chest mount. I've never used the helmet mount cuz I just don't like that "look". I haven't tried a handlebar mount, and I'm not sure I've seen any footage shot that way. I wonder if it might be pretty bumpy. Both helmet and chest mount provide for a smoother camera platform . . . I think . . . maybe??

If you search YouTube for Hodaka Bad Rock and/or Hodaka ISDT RR you ought to find some footage I shot with the chest mount.

Have fun!

Thanks for the good input. Now to figure out the instructions and a trial run.. I agree, the chest mount seems likely more to my taste.

I like the body mount as it show the bars and controls, I been using the GoPro on top of my helmet as your head makes a natural gimbal for a steady shot.
Now I just got one of the pros hot mounts I really like it, best of both view and steady shot.

plus the camera will pick up your voice for some narration.

Ooooooo. I like that! But I'm bummed. I stubbornly cling to my old fashioned open face helmet, so that's not an option for me. I'll bet the "view" is almost exactly what I'd like to see . . . and there is nothing quite like the steadiness and swivel functions offered by the "head mount". :-)
