Hodaka brake light switch

The front and rear brake light switch on the earlier models is riveted together and is not supposed to be repairable, but at $50 a pop and in short supply many can be resurrected. The rivets can be drilled out with a 7/32" drill bit and the rear cover removed. There are a few small parts inside, so work carefully and take pix and make notes. The rear cover can be re-fastened with #6-32 x 1/2" flathead screws in a ;light countersink in the bottom of the cover. The nuts, which take a 5/16" wrench size, will need to be narrowed across two flats to 7mm width to fit the switch body. Lightly snug the screws, and use a drop of Loctite to make sure they stay put. My switch was packed with decades of mud and clay but cleaned up nicely. The design and construction of that switch was impressive-- I'm respecting UJM design more and more.
