Crankcase breather

Hello all I just picked up a 1975 Road Toad and it is leaking a lot of oil from the breather . What would cause this , too much oil , wrong oil type any answers would be great . Thanks
This problem has been discussed many times on this forum. From what I can remember, the first thing I would check it overfilling.
Second can be moisture in the oil.
The most likely though is a leaking case seal on the clutch side. This has the compression foam the oil. Does the oil look foamy?
