Dirt Squirt or Other Small Hodaka Wanted

I'm looking for a smaller Hodaka for my middle grandson. He's a bit on the short side for his 13 years and couldn't throw his leg over my Model 03. I thought about the Road Toad offered in the for sale section but checked the specs and the Toad has the same size wheels as the Model 03. Maybe a Dirt Squirt, Ace or a Model 94 Wombat?
I am located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and would like to find something within a day's drive from here, say no more than 6-650 miles away if at all possible.
I also don't want a completed restoration, as I would rather do it myself, and maybe have him work with me on it too.
So a fairly complete unit for not a huge some of money is what I'm looking for. I've seen folks post pictures saying things like "I just picked up 3 more bikes to work on!" So who ever put there has something in the NM, AZ, CO, UT or TX areas they can part with, please let me know!
Thanks in advance! ; D Victor

Victor,
The 94 Wombat is going to be taller with 21/18 wheels like the 03 Wombat. Also, the Model 99 Road Toad is the same as the Dirt Squirt with 19/17 wheels. The 02 Road Toad has the larger 21/18 wheels.
While Dirt Squirts and 99 Road Toads offer a shorter height, an even better choice would be an Ace 100.

Not sure if this is what you are saying, but the Ace has a 32 inch saddle height and 19 front, 18 rear wheels. See brochure.

Good point Rick. Let me clarify and say a model 92 Ace 100 or for that matter an Ace 90. The later Ace 100's (B and B+) do have a bit higher seat height. Higher than the Dirt Squirts and 99 Road Toads too.

Miss Judy's toaster tank Dirt Squirt with Progressive shocks on the back, and forks sticking thru the triple clamps by 1 inch, has a 30.5" saddle height.

PS: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! and . . .
Keep the rubber side down!

This might be within a days drive from NM... 20 days online though.

An Ace 100 would be a good one for a smaller frame too! (pun intended)
This one has been tempting me. But I need to get rid of a couple Super Rats first.

Thanks Roger! That one is 9 1/2 hours away. I sent the guy an email asking if he sold it and what he needs to get for it since he listed it as best offer. We will see what he says! ; D Victor

And Captain Eddie might I say that Miss Judy's little Dirt Squirt is one heck of a fun scooter to ride too !! The South Fork of the Walla Walla, Bull Trout, rocky cliffs and friends riding Hodaka's.
Merry Christmas!

The ACE 100 in Virgin Utah is sold. However the Ace 90 in Phoenix is not! Talked to the man who has it for sale today. He wants $450 for it. Tire's are no good and it doesn't start. It's missing the OEM rear fender and light and also the OEM front fender. Needs a battery and some of the wiring is damaged but he has a replacement wiring harness for it which he will include.
Says he bought it at a storage locker sale to restore it but hasn't gotten round to it. The odometer show 1108 miles on it. And he is not far from my sister's house. I could drive there, pick it up, spend the night at my sister's and drive home.
What do you guys think? Is $450 a fair deal for the bike? Here's a photo! ; D Victor

I'd say at that price it's a good deal and it's an excuse to visit your sister. You wanted one with some work to do anyway.

I was discussing it with Danny now. He is suggesting that an Ace 100 would be a better choice, both for parts availability and having a better suspension. I may rethink this. ; D Victor

The ace 90 looks like it has newer, better quality rear shocks gerling? . A ace 100 engine would fit right in. Good looking exhaust. The frames are basically the same or with little difference. looks like a good buy you could always try a $400cash offer or less. -------------Clarence

Ditto, what Clarence said...
You can put an Ace 100 or.. you can even place a 125 in it with slight mods to the wiring and a new pipe and air cleaner setup. Save the 90cc motor for later if you ever decide restore original or.. ??.
Many Ace 100 body parts will also fit, i.e. rear fender. And I see the stock front fender and brace available every now and then.
From what I see, I would seriously consider $450 for it, although on the high side. But it is an asking price and "asking prices" are, in theory, intentionally higher than the expected return. I thinks he's probably in the right range for an Ace 90 in that condition.

So does anyone out there know of an Ace 100 not far from me? I think I would rather have the Ace 100 instead of the older Ace 90. Of course I'm looking for a restore unit not one already done. ; D Victor

Hi Bruce! Saw your message on Facebook! I'm trying to reach Paul from Dolores, CO, who posted he has one with no title. There are picks of it on his FB home page. But he hasn't responded back to me yet. His bike is the closest to me so far, only about 4-4.5 hours north of me. I could go there and back on a tank of gas! I hope he contacts me and we can talk it out! This is the bike he has as shown on his homepage! It looks like a great bike to pick up but not much work needed. I don't have a price from him yet tho. ; D Victor
