Grip Glue Solvent?

Does anyone know what will remove grip glue from painted surfaces? I put new grips on the bike. The grip glue came out of the grip and dropped on my new paint, awhile after I walked away. Want something that will dissolve the glue but won't dissolve the clear coat on my tank! Thanks in advance! ; D Victor

Try Goo Gone, but rub some on an inconspicuous spot on the paint first.

For what it is worth, I haven't used grip glue at any time.

Hairspray will soften the glue and allow you to remove it with a soft cloth. Testing it first, on the paint where it can not be seen,is always a good idea.

Another use for the hairspray is to use it rather than grip glue. It will allow the grips to slide right on and then it drys and the grips will not move until you put an air nozzle to them. The air will raise them and they will slide right back off.

Most inexpensive hairspray is simple clear lacquer. I don't believe lacquer will lift urethane once cured, but if lacquer will soften the glue, so will mineral spirits, which is less aggressive than the volatiles in lacquer.
