Strange weekend

I missed Hodaka Days, but I managed to have some fun regardless. Lawrence Hacking's Grand Prix De Mud lived up to it's name and although the day started out dry, around noon the skies opened up it poured. Not to be deterred I entered my Dirt Squirt in the vintage hare scramble. On about the second lap I could feel the drive train slipping, like the chain was riding up over the sprocket teeth. It did this for a while and then the problem went away. I assumed it was due to the mud, but my chain was properly adjusted and surely it couldn't skip over the teeth. Anyway when I went to load up the bike it was really hard to push, and once again I assumed it was due to the mud. After washing the bike here is what I found:
The chain was riding on top of the sprocket teeth and it appears that it was like that for the majority of the race. The chain was as tight as a guitar string and it was strange that it didn't derail. I guess the chain guide kept it on.
Here are a couple of pics of me at speed (as fast as I could go in the mud anyway):
And then I found a cool skull in the woods after the race:
I managed a second in the hare scramble on my Dirt Squirt and a second in the motocross on my Super Combat. Here is a pic of my Super Combat before the sky opened up:
Here is a picture of "Speedy" Helmut Clasen, still racing at 79!:
And after the race I won a tire and a prize pack of every product BelRay makes!:
There were also some interesting guests at the race including hillclimber John Williams and Enduro great Dick Burleson.
The next day a big chunk of something finally worked it way out of my eye and I found a tick burrowed into my arm.
