Bolts and other hardware. Some bike just are to far gone to restore, you know over time you find a frame with wheels all rusted. Over time here at the California Hodaka compound we have saved up alot of hardware. Soon as we are getting low on shiny stuff I will spend hours prepping old dirty hardware to send of to get zink plating, its rather inexpensive in the long run. The charge is by the batch, so big coffee can full of your nuts and stuff would be around $30 and boy is this new bright stuff nice to have when you get ready for a restore project or just a pick me up like my 03 Wombat project.

So today I started cleaning up the project by replacing rusted or non correct hardware with stuff that had been saved and re-plated. So here is where I am with the bike. You see the nice new wheels and the old worn sprocket as well as rusted hardware.

First clean its rear end.

Here we also found this nice good used aluminum sprocket someone doctored up with extra holes. But again a good piece off a junk bike. Also you can see re-plated adjusters and other shiny stuff. If you look close too you see the bolt is now on the left side, its good to check the book for stuff like this as the PO at some point put it all back on the wrong side. Now it works either way but if this was a restore you want it right.

Replacing wrong hardware with the right stuff, again from stuff we have collect for re purposing.
