shifter
shifter
I have brain fade. Took the shifter apart on my Ace 100 to put bushings in cover. Now I cannot remember how to put it back together. The pictures in the Manuel don't help. If I line up the detentes, then the shifter lever doesn't line up with cam and the detentes are on the wrong side. If you look in the Manuel you can see what I mean. Any ideas? I have several cams and covers and they all are the same even the 90 cover and cam.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: shifter
Not sure I follow your description. Perhaps a photo or two of what you have in front of you would help us understand where you are at. Keep in mind that first gear is found with the shift control rod pulled all the way out to the left side of the engine, and the bike shifts foot lever up for first gear instead of down for low as with most Japanese machines of the day. Perhaps that's why things look backwards.
Re: shifter
I x-rayed one of mine for you. Maybe it will help:

Hey Brian, I'm impressed! How did you do that?

Re: shifter
I just threw it in my x-ray machine, played around with the kVp until I got the detail correct and there you have it.
Re: shifter
Very cool diagnostic approach! I'm still impressed!

PS--Not all of us can run out to the shop and fire up our X-ray machine!

Re: shifter
When I read the original post this morning I remembered that I had a clean shifter case on the bench ready for assembly. I began to think about getting the camera out and being helpful. When I scrolled down to Brian's X-ray I started laughing---problem solved! Thanks Brian for hopefully solving the problem and making me giggle!
