Rearranging the Hodaka literature in the Super Secret Hodaka Research and Meditation Center's underground vault, I ran across a flyer from Cycle-Aide in Marina del Ray, California. Two items were listed for our Hodies. One was a cushioned rear drive sprocket. The photo was not too revealing, but it looks like there is a middle section that is somewhat made out of six rubber cushions. These sprockets, as is stated, can be ordered in various sizes, so therefore the cushioned part is actually a part of the sprocket.
The second item is a black anodized 100cc alloy cylinder for the model 93 Rat. They claim a 10 to 15% horsepower increase, when used with Webco head. Can be bored out to a max. of .080". I have seen the Webco head before and have a brochure on the Webco 125cc conversion kit, but have not heard or seen their 100cc cylinder. Has anyone actually seen these items?

Parts for Hodaka from Webco
Re: Parts for Hodaka from Webco
Back in the 70's when I rode a Hodaka I had a 100cc Webco alloy cylinder but not the head. I didn't like the was the motor ran. I had been using the Webco reed valve on my motors and tried it on the Webco cylinder just could not get it to run clean, but it didn't get hot.
Re: Parts for Hodaka from Webco
Hey Mike, We used the cushioned sprocket on all the race bikes in the shop before Hodakas cushioned hub. I still have one on my old short tracker on display. We never ordered any Webco cylinders but we sold and used lots of heads. It was always exciting when the new Webco catalog came!

PS---There's a Webco head on my bench as we speak for the "Day One Project".

deward66, did you ever find out why the cylinder did not perform well? Also maxie, did the Webco cushioned hub work well?

Re: Parts for Hodaka from Webco
I'm sure the cushioned sprockets at least helped. The rubber grommets were small in comparison to Hodakas new dampers. The few transmission failures that we had were usually 3rd gear landings with the throttle pinned as I remember it. The model 93s didn't have any cushioning and early models spun 3rd gear on the mainshaft. The problem was quickly resolved from the factory under warranty with a new mainshaft and later with a new cushioned hub.
as I remember it--

ps---The close ratio 5 speed R series had a splined main to prevent gears from spinning on the shaft. All related to shocks on the drivetrain.
