Greetings Everyone,

Back in the 90's I actually bought a Combat Wombat in a box for $20, assembled it and sold it (not running) for $80 due to going through a nasty divorce. Not a bad return percentage wise but still regretful.

I currently have a lead on another 1974 Combat Wombat that supposedly was a one owner bike, great shape and ready to ride. Since I haven't followed Hodakas for a while, I'm not sure what current values are on them to make an offer. I know no one can give a specific value since it is unseen so far (even by me since it is several states away from me - word of mouth so far) but I was wondering if there is a range that would be fairly priced, such as $1000-$3000?, $1500-$2500, etc. or at least a max value that I shouldn't go over.

I'm currently racing an AHRMA post vintage class and would like to get into the vintage class as well with this CW.

Any information would be appreciated. I've loved the looks of the Combat Wombat since the 70's but you don't see them available too often.

Probably hard to really say, but perhaps between $1000 and $2000 depending on just how ready it really is. But value is always only defined as the price a willing buyer pays to a willing seller, so the price ultimately depends on how willing each of you might be.

TC, sounds like a potentially cool deal. I'm with AZ, 1K or so, depending on condition.

Ready to ride doesn't mean ready to race (if it's stock) - you should count on suspension upgrades (at least the rear shocks), an engine freshening, and tires. If the tank and fenders are super nice, you might consider saving them from track damage and replacing with plastic.

If you want to spend money like a machine gun, think about upgrading the front brake hub, forks, maybe a PVL ignition.

I have a CW - such a great AHRMA cross country bike, and really holds its own in the Classic 125 class - and those Hodakas are real good about starting in the morning and finishing the day strong!
