Come on fellows. You are giving away some of Rich's secrets. For those interested in what this does search for "Somender Singh's grooves" on Google. Most of the info is related to four stroke engines but the same idea should work on two strokes. Rich put these in the head of a SC along with case porting and I haven't fouled a plug since.

Actually, "invented" by Somender Singh as an enhancement, if I remember right, to BMW motor cars, so Bill is right. I have not found convincing, scientific result which identifies WHY these things work, but there is lots of anecdotal evidence that they do, and even some dyno proof that there is a benefit. I am just willing to try this to get more torque. Every little bit helps.

In looking at the two photos I would make the second one (socalhodaka's) a little deeper.

Rich,

When you say don't go beyond, are you meaning toward the plug where I turned the groove down into the plug area, or outward toward the gasket?

Stop at the end of squish band flat area and not continue toward plug . I think all your doing beyond that will just lower compression.
