Hey all, I am restoring a Super Rat 98. Is it best to clear coat the KYB rear shocks or is there another alternative? I am considering a "matte" finish clear coat. Thanks, Linc

If you intend to paint the shock body, I would use caliper or wheel paint for durability. If the body looks good, clear will work. Otherwise one of the silver or aluminum colors will make the metal look uniform and new.

My opinion and what I do is remove the origional clear with either paint remover or carb cleaner and then twist the body in hand with red scotch brite, makes a nice brushed look that wont flake off and is easily renewewd with a light rub of scotch brite
