"E" engines are replacement engines ordered as an engine, not taken from a complete bike. With a number that high, seems there should be another letter after the "E" and before the numbers. If not, so be it. There is a list of engine and frame numbers on Stictly Hodaka's main page, right side about two third of the way down. Follow the link to the article that shows these things. Also shows where the frame numbers are found, i.e., left side above the upper shock mount, left side main frame gusset below the steering head, and on the manufacturers build plate on the front of the steering head, assuming it has not been removed or replaced during conversion.

Anyway, nearly all available information on Hodakas will be found on Strictly Hodaka's website. Paul and crew have spent years compiling this information.

Nope. Maybe someone more familiar with Steen conversions can say whether the frame is custom, or a made over Hodaka frame. I would bet that Paul knows the answer to both questions. He checks the forum from time to time, or you can write to him internally at "admin."

Steens used Hodaka Ace 100 motors. So you may have a Steens and not a "Hodaka" so to speak. I have 3 sets of shocks off of the Steens projects I'm working on, and they are all junk, all the shafts are rusted beyond any repair. If you look on E bay under Sebac shocks, you may find something that will work for your needs. Are your fenders plastic? Does the seat say Alsport on the backside of it ? Can tell more from a pic.

The fenders are plastic and it does have AlSport on the back of the seat. Like I said before it also has a fiberglass gas tank. My father bought me this bike when I was 13 I am 52 now and looking to completely restore it. Now that I have the know-how the time and the money to do it. It was manufactured by AlSport

Steens it is. A lot of stuff for the bike is available. Being a Hodaka motor, everything should be available to do a complete overhaul. Body work is available thru E bay. Shocks may be the hardest to source, but persistence should get you what you need. If you're going to run it I suggest up grading to one of the metal tanks that are available, or be sure to coat your tank as modern fuels and fiberglass don't get along well. There are sources for most anything you may need, just ask and we can point you in the right direction.

JDT,
Look on the top edge of the swing arm mount on the left side of the bike. That is where my VIN is on my Steen. Check out the thread "Steen Serial number"
