Tool Kit Cover Help

I have a 75 Road Toad and for the life of me cannot figure out how to attach the tool box cover with the tool box cover spring. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!

Spring is inside the toolbox and fastened on the outside. Holes are small so you may need a new spring so you can curl the ends after inserting through the holes. The ends of the old spring may snap off if you try to straighten them.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. I've had the bike for 30 years, and have stared at the coverless tool box forever and just recently purchased a tool box cover and brand new spring from Strictly Hodaka. I will try what you have suggested. Thanks again!
