First production model was the model 97 Super Combat. The 175 and 250's did not come with reed valve.

Models , 98, 99, 01, 02 and 03 also had reed valves. That would be orange tank Super Rats, Road Toads, late model Dirt Squirts and 03 Wombats as well as the Super Combat.

The sad thing was Yamaha patented reed valve setups. It took something which everyone was using, even on chain saws, and made it proprietary. I think that sucked. :ugeek: Victor

A basketball question for Ed and it is also a all play. anyone can ask a hodaka question on here. Ed who was the professional basketball player, that was the first to shatter a back board??

I most assuredly don't know the answer to that. But if I were to hazard a guess, it would be Wilt Chamberlain executing with all the power he could muster against the great Bill Russell.

The one and only Chuck Connors. Pre-acting. (non-dunk). 1st televised (I think) was Darryl Dawkins. Shaq and MJ have also smashed backboards.

Matt you are correct. Chuck was playing for the Boston Celtics. He also played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the NY Yankees. Stared in films with Doris Day, Charlton Heston and John Wayne. Served our country during world war II, And was the Rifleman Lucas McCain. It was a shot from 40 feet ?? What does this have to do with Hodaka ? We all have a picture of John Wayne sitting on a Hodaka.

this is a manual question but I will ask here also. What was the last workshop manual produced by hodaka and which models did it cover? It was not a supplement and is it rare?? ------------ Clarence

Last manual I know of was the one for the model 94/94A and 95, Wombat and Combat Wombat. Might not be a lot of them around, but I don't think it is rare.

You are correct and it is a very good manual! I was so lucky I seen a yard sale ad on craigslist one day for a yard sale in Athena. It included manuals, new nitto tires, new gas tank, and some PABATCO file folders. cash first come first served. I paid through Wall Mart and picked up my goodies at the hodaka days that year. The manual is bright orange and white on the front it is the (official HODAKA WORKSHOP MANUAL includes WOMBAT model 94 and Model 94A also COMBAT WOMBAT model 95). The part number for the manual is 209004. Mine is still new, never used, I have never seen others. ------------ Clarence

I thought the question was what was the last "supplement" to the Official Workshop Manual? The manual for the Model 94/95 was not a "supplement" - it was a "stand - alone" Official Workshop Manual. The ol' guy who put it together tells me that the Manual did continue an error from the original manual & supplements. The ignition coil secondary winding resistance specification omitted the rather important "k". Secondary winding resistance should be in "k-ohms"(THOUSANDS of ohms). Not just ohms.

You are correct Ed my screw up. the question should have been in manual's And I had also asked what was the last supplement?? The stand alone 94/95 manual is impressive. I have no knowledge beyond the model 94 / 95 as I sold my shop then. This topic is moving fast but has allot of participation. I really liked the combat wombat but I had quit racing just before that. ------ Clarence

Was the ace 90 race competitive? Also what would signify a race part? Others ask questions open to every body. -------- Clarence

My guess would be that "Yes", the Ace 90 race was competitive in it's day, judging from the race reports I have read from back then.
What would signify a race part, an "R" at the end of the part number. (Most of the race part numbers also started with a 91)

Correct all started with a 91 and some also had a R after, You can see that a super rat used ace 90 racing parts. Our ace 90's were ported, fitted with reed valves, good expansion chambers, frames lengthened extended and ran the best with about a 32 amal monoblock carburetor, we also had the five speed racing transmission, and I used gerling shocks. The crate rat would not hold a candle to it. But the rat was built with everything we had to modify except the reed valve was missing, The super rat was beautiful and any one could begin to race it. After allot of 250 + riders got pasted by a ace 90 on the country roads, they bought super rats and we modified them. ---------- Clarence

That would be a difference but a marking where you could really know and not considering part number. I am not sure the Ace 90 racing head, had a part number stamped. ------------- Clarence
