Next up today will be a rear wheel clean & grease and remount. Haven’t bought tires yet because I’m going on a motorcycle trip in 3.5 weeks and I’m holding back $$$ for the trip. I’ll get tires after I return.
I would appreciate some tips on measuring the existing piston & rings, both how to do it and what would still be considered acceptable tolerances. I’m suspecting this motor has the original standard piston & rings but will confirm once I get it open.

She’s a Roller again! Got the rear wheel all done, axle pieces cleaned & rear brake rod mounted! Slowly but surely!
Need to paint the kick stand now that I have it straightened out. She should stand up better now!

With the bike balanced straight up, the bottom of the kick stand is less than an inch off the ground! It’s supposed to be silver, right???

My handy work regarding the kick stand? If so, yes Albert. I heated it with my propane torch and straightened it in my bench vise. Then painted it and mounted it after it dried.

Well, since the CW came without a coil, I bought a couple from Bruce. Did the rebuild today, after having a few problems finding copper core wire.
Wish I could have figured out how to apply the grey RTV more smoothly, but I guess I can sand it out after it dries. But, 2 coils redone today with fresh spark plug wires, & new boots!

Mounted the rebuilt coil on the CW frame. Going to start pulling the head & cylinder off. I will have measurements shortly!

Got the motor apart down to pulling the flywheel & my puller roached out on me!
At least the first three threads stripped away, and one whole 360* section of thread came off in one piece! The puller will no longer thread onto the flywheels, & I tried 2 of them to be sure it wasn’t the threads on the CW flywheel. Same result. So I know it’s an issue with the puller.

Could have been something in there to keep it from going in all the way. It must be screwed in all the way and the center must be backed out to allow full threads. If it were fully on it would have pulled all the threads. Your good luck circle should be coming around soon. ------------Clarence

I needed some Ace parts so I put the puller in with those parts & ordered everything yesterday. So I’m hopeful that the parts will ship on Tuesday. Usually things from Terry arrive to me within 3 days. Hoping it’s here by Friday!

I only got the top side of the tank polished before my drill battery lost power & it’s only one pass. But I used the Mother’s Mag & Aluminum polish on the top of the tank and even I’m amazed!!!

Hey Matt! She’s coming along! Wishing I had the cases apart. Order shipped from Terry today & it usually only takes 2-3 days to get here. So I’m hopeful for Friday. The top end looked really clean. A .010 overbore with piston & rings and I think I can put the top end back together the way it is with just new gaskets.
So I’m hoping with the soon to happen bottom end rebuild, she will be back together by maybe the end of June! Fingers crossed, anyway!

Awesome, Victor. Great to start with a low-hour cylinder/head. My favorite cylinder is down to one good one with maybe one hone. It only has 8 motos and some trail riding and its in the sweet spot right now. Anyway, press on. It's looking great.

The flywheel puller came today and it threaded right in and off it came!
Now to dig inside! But the stator area sure looks GREAT!

Moving along nicely again! I split the cases, inspected & bagged the tranny parts. I even got all the bearings out with a little work!
Cases are as clean as I’m going to get them for now. They are going off to Larry for his offer to vapor blast them for me. When they return, they will get a bottom end rebuild!

Ya know, if someone set up a vapor blaster at HD 19 they'd probable do a landmark business.

Not interested. My hard working days are behind me. I don't want to take a fun hobby and turn it into a full -time job.

That’s a good retired attitude, Larry!
I had the band teacher where I volunteer tell me I should apply to take the band at one of our feeder Middle Schools.
I told him. I’m retired. I do what I do with you because I enjoy it and it’s fun. I don’t want to go back to work full time and deal with the administrators. I’ve subbed at that school & the admins aren’t supportive, nor are they musically competent. I want to enjoy what I do, NOT Work!!!
