I'm sure you'll square it up Victor! I'm not sure if you saw my post from April 5, but you might want to consider sealing up those front blinker mounts with silicone.

Well, I think I found the “new” cause! I guess I’ll have to cut & splice!

Victor, I got that maneuver from Hodaka Dave so I give credit to him for a really smart and simple move. I'm so glad you have Road Toad road ready. I just love buzzing around town on mine and I'm sure you will too. Be prepared to field a lot of questions and comments everywhere you go. Congratulations!!

Well, Matt, I won’t be buzzing around town on it, my nephew, Jonah will be doing that. And he graduates high school this year & he’s looking forward to taking the bike with him to college & using it on campus! Being 6’4” he does make that Road Toad look small!

Then he will, for sure, have the coolest scooter on campus (and the lowest fuel bills too). He looks good on it to boot. Very nice to hook him up like that!

Matt. He worked very hard on this bike with me! Constantly calling & messaging me “When can we work on the bike again?” Amazing to me since he’s a Senior & was on both the football & basketball teams at Santa Fe High School!

Meh...he's a kid, sleep is for the weak.
Seriously what a great project and a way for you to spend time together. He is never going to forget it.

Geary, I’m sure he won’t! I enjoyed working on itceith him too! There were these times when his eyes would open up sooo wide, like he’d just figured something out! Makes it all worth while!

Got the new seal & sprocket collar today! Installed it, filled the oil back up & it looks like no more oil leak!
Rode it to my daughter’s house about 1 mile away. Put it on the kickstand there & found yet another leak!
Turns out oil was getting into the oil pump housing because the pump was turning! Some how, transmission oil was making its way into the oil pump housing. Pulled the cover & the pump was only being held by one screw!
Cleaned it up and drained all the oil out.
In the morning, I’ll put things back together & fill the oil again.
It’s not leaking from around the counter shaft seal any longer, so if I can nip this one in the bud, all the oil should stay in her now. I removed the pump since it wasn’t being used. Got too dark to do any more!

Got new screws to hold the oil pump properly in place. Rode her hot 2 miles around the subdivision. Pulled the pump cover and no more oil leak. Between the new seal & sprocket collar, & the new screws for the pump, she’s all buttoned up and no more leaking! Ordered the pump removal kit anyway and also 3 more clutch cover gaskets just to have them in hand!

Post Script....
The Red Toad is now titled and officially in my nephew’s name! If he had brought (& bought) proof of insurance, it would have been registered as well today. But he has a title!
For those interested, we used the procedure for rebuilding/restoring a bike from an original factory frame. Title only cost $14.75. But it’s HIS!!!
