After I welded it up I noticed I had two cracks in welds that I had not noticed before. The heat from the welding of that stop caused them to expand a little making them very visible now as you can see. The cracks are circled in red. Man I am glad I discovered this mow before I painted everything. Zoom the pics up and you can see the cracks clearly. Man I am glad I discovered this now. I better go over these frames with a fine toothed comb and make sure all is repaired before I paint. Roger, one of these frames is the one you sent me last year.

Here is one of the cracks after being repaired. I welded everything up and gave it a little primer. Soon will be ready to paint. Better get some paint ordered from Mr. Paul. Just have so much to do all the time. One of the brothers in Hodaka has a saying something like "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get" well that's me too!

Now after all is welded I put a little primer over things and now all I have to do is install the bearing cup back in using a piece of 5/8 inch all thread rod, a couple of nuts and some heavy duty flat washers and I am all done. If I did not notice that the weld holding that stop on were cracked, and that thing came off later, don't you know I would have dented my newly restored gas tank. My goodness, what a heart break that would have been right?.

OK Clarence, Here is some more of the 1970 Bultaco Sherpa S 125 restored by me. This was painted inside my PVC framed paint booth covered with sheet plastic. Its what I refer to as my "Redneck Paint Booth". It worked really good though as you can see by the paint in the pics. I also have a 100cc Bultaco Sherpa S that I have in process restoring also. Thanks

FIY the name Bultaco is a play of words on the name of the founder of the company. It was founded by Francisco "Paco" Bulto. Did you also know that the company has been restarted and they are making electric bikes. They have not as yet been selling them in the US but I suspect they will soon because they have bought back the rights to the name Bultaco from Hughes Bultaco in New York state. I also have a Bultaco model 30 100cc bike in process of being restored.
This Sherpa S 125 required considerable work to repair the fiberglass side panels and gas tank but I did it myself. One of the panels was only about 50% complete. It was a lot of work and time to repair them I remember. I used these fiberglass repair kits sold in auto stores. They work good. This was a full bore Resto. Thanks gentlemen for looking

I’m the one you referred to about the quote, “The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!” It’s something my Grandmother used to say all the time! Really love that Bultaco!!! :ugeek: Victor

here is the roller with bearing method I used on my dirt squirt , and combat wombat and plated 70 Rat that I really didn't want to screw up the nickel plating on. Also built a roller chain guide for.

Any truth to the information that Gas Gas bikes are made in the old Bultaco factory?

Nice Sherpa S efkruger. Is that a model 63? I have a m63 with a m44 top end. Just put the original Amal back on and original air cleaner but no pictures yet. That tank is bubbling the paint but I have another that will never see gas. That bubbling paint was with vp race gas so must have had some bad spots. Don't believe in the coatings as they never hold up. even Caswell will fail. You can never get all the oil out of that old fiberglass.

Cool man! Set up for flat track, complete with Pirelli tires, compression release, no front brake, yeah man, just like what I rode back in the day. Yes, mine is a model 63. Lovely bike you have there. Thanks for posting the pic. Once I restore my bikes I don't gas em up too much anymore so I have not had any problems with gas tanks. I do use Caswell in all my fiberglass tanks though. Thanks
