I haven't a clue - Gregg assigned the "Volume" numbers. I'm sure there is great significance to them. Perhaps we need a new volume, what with Captain Ed being our new leader, maybe we need "Volume Ed"...

We have finally found out who knows the answer to the mystery. So I guess we are waiting on Gregg.

I'm with you, Bill. I started running RMs at about the time Hodaka faded from view and then, as life happened, got away from it altogether. I'm also currently involved in circling back to the bikes I lusted after in my youth. They are like a time machine for me and, amazingly, I still see a few familiar faces at the regional tracks around here - the ones that are still in operation anyway.

I think I also know the answer to the "Volume" thing for the Resonator Revisited. If I am correct, I believe there is consistency with previous practice from the 1960's and 1970's. Which means that attitudes evident in the original Resonator and even in the Gravel Rash Calendar would apply. I'll wait for Gregg's input before commenting further. (Um, and No, I don't think we need a "Volume Ed")

I think I will have a contest to see if anyone can figure it out. There is a reason.

If you have a guess before next Wednesday, post it and if you're the first one to get it right, I'll send you a Unifilter service kit and a couple of other goodies from the club's donations.

As to the colors being blue on gray... Are you saying the text is blue and the page color (background) is gray? I'm not sure where that would be coming from. The original, done in MS Word, as well as the PDF created are plain ole white with black print.

Ah, I see now. That color scheme is encoded into the webpage "html" file and is usually not overridden. That background can make the text hard to make out. The Webmaster can fix that easily-- it's only a line or two of code.

Gregg, Maxie is talking about the color of the Web page and not the Resonator its self. Gary can fix that. Let's get back to Gregg's contest.

We simply wanted to see how carefully you proofread the Res. Got it past you in the previous issue, but you brought us up short this time. Sharp eyes, those Kansans. I think Maxie is campaigning for my job. Best be careful, you might find that it doesn't take much to be awarded such an exalted role...

All "good" guesses and Bill Chapman wins with Very, at least in my funny alternate universe. The V really does stand for Vernon which is popular in the Good family history. With a name like Good and being a funny but practical bunch we use puns daily. I wear the hat that says "Life is good". Social invitations say "Come to the Good Woods and Have a Good time." Good idea. I have a charge account at the local Ace Hardware Store (A "good" place to buy metric Hodaka fasteners) and when I sign tickets the fun ladies at the desk ask the "V" question. I had them convinced that it stood for "Very" but being an honest and good guy finally confessed to the joke. Now they call me Max Bad. It goes on and on and has entertained the Goods for probably centuries.

OK, Now that contest is over lets get back to Gregg's contest. Why did he change from Volume 1 (V1) to V2 in 2011? I think I have figured it out, but as I am the Membership person for the Board I will wait until Wednesday next week to put in my answer to give others a chance at the prizes.

Maxie (and other club members), the color of the text on the club web page for the list of previous Resonators has been updated to bright orange. I think that will match the gray background so you can see it. Also the Index page has been updated to show tech items in the latest releases.

Ok gang. Time is running out for Gregg's contest and no one has even guessed. So I am going to guess that Version 1's all were formatted in 2 columns and Version 2's were formatted in 1 column or full page.

The orange reads a lot better on the darker gray, but not so much in the lighter gray areas.

Regarding the volume number change, could it be attributed to a different editor? Not sure who did the older volumes, so it's just a guess. Victor

I did like Rick Mott's fessing up on the East Coast Hodaka Junk Yard Association true identity in our last Resonator issue. That's what pseudo things are for, to drag people away reality and in this case in a fun way. Even though pseudo (I love that word), in reality, so to speak, the organization appears to be real with fun people and events.

Our similar old gang/pseudo organization here in the midwest has become somewhat dispersed through the years but the theme still in effect and we still greet one another with our pseudo European names that we all made up to sound exciting and brave in our road racing endeavors of the time. Very long story but it's Rick's story in the Resonator that I enjoyed and relate to. Life should be somewhat silly and fun. It makes the journey much more enjoyable.
