I thought I would throw a couple thoughts... (Mainly for myself).

As mentioned above you have an ignition from a later model Ace 100. All the parts are the same except the Ace 100 models moved to an external HT Coil. The exciting coil mounts to the stator plate where the Ace 90 coil mounted and then the HT Coil mounted under the tank. In answer to your question whether it would be considered "original", you could argue that using the later ignition with external coil was an acceptable upgrade/replacement.

In regards to your taillight, you have the correct taillight, but for a later Ace 90 that incorporated a two piece fender and fender support bracket. I believe your one piece fender is probably correct for your early Ace 90 built in 1965. The Ace 90 Manual will give you the serial number for when that switch was made. The taillight that was installed on the early Ace 90's was a lucas style taillight which was already shown above. On your one piece fender there are two hole on the sides, near the end of the fender, these were to mount a ducktail rubber flap.

This shows the difference between the two: (The yellowed inset is the later style)

I just wanted to say one more thing on the issue. I thank the Heavens for Bruce in Idaho. He made me bundle deals and kept the cost of this build under control. For as vague as I have been, he did a great job of filling my orders. The only reason I was concerned about the ignition is the amca rule book. So, all in all , after all that, one piece didn't match up. The tail light. I think that was a great job, considering the 3000 or so miles in between.
Sorry I missed you, Merry 'whatever you celebrate' Bruce. Cigar and beer waiting in my shop for you.

Pop. I need to look thru my parts box when I am home on Friday, but, I believe I have an older style Ace 1 up 4 down shifter cover & assembly if you would like it. If that's the cover you're missing let me know. I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. Shouldn't be more thatmn $10-12 to ship it in the lower 48! ; D Victor

Here are some of my pictures of my Ace 64 when I was rebuiding it.hope any pictures will help. I could not find the small fender with the little mud flap so I used the longer fender with the brace.

Nice Ace. I see now how the tail should look. I like all the chrome but ouch! That must have hurt a little.

Semichrome metal polish, my friend. It is magic on chrome you'd think was ready for the recycle bin. That bike started as a heap of rusted junk that spent the last the last 40 years outdoors entangled in a bunch of wrecked/rusted farm machinery behind a barn in North Dakota. Semichrome polish, 4-ought steel wool, and elbow grease is the ticket. You should try some. Its imported by Competition Chemicals in Iowa Falls. Available on Amazon, etc. (And thanks, Clarence - I've learned from the best :D )

Phil there was a racing coil made for the ace 90. 913008R it was held by a bracket that clamped to the frame, located under the tank by the horn. It was a ace 90 racing part that was also used on all of the 93, 93A and 93B super rats. -----Clarence

Pop. I use a Mothers Power Cone and apply first the metal polish and then follow up with the chrome polish. It took the tank I had from looking old to looking pretty nice! ; D Victor

Victor,
Wow. I thought you made a chrome shops day. If I decide to go restored, I'll get the products. I am a rust and grunge guy though. Good show.

Matt & Phil. It took about 2 hours of polishing and buffing with that cone to get the results, but it was worth it! It took minimal effort and not as much pressure as I thought it would take with the cone in my cordless drill. I used the metal polish first and did the whole tank, except for the tunnel, of course. Then when done with the metal polish I cleaned the cone, let it dry and did the same thing again for another hour with the chrome polish. Then I wiped it down with a microfiber cloth to clean the tank after the chrome polishing. I was truly amazed myself. Someone here in the forum suggested this method to me & I was sure glad the did! ; D Victor

The only chrome I had done was the exhaust pipe, the tool box . Had the frame Powdercoated. Plus I have a polisher that I used to polish
all the chrome that took forever using different grades of polish. I have used everything to polish and found a polish called brasso I workes pretty good.
Clarence and every one else take a look at the engine i'ts # is PO262 1963 doesn't have hodaka written any where on the cases. Except on the shifter side cover tab. Got to be one of Hodakas first engines. You can tell by the engine #. The head looks like a yamaguge. Tell me what you guys think. II would like any info I can get on the engine.
Thanks
