Rupp / Hodaka powered

Post by Indian »

Starting a new project. Anyone ever put an Ace 100 motor in a Rupp Roadster chassis. I've got it mocked up but b-4 I start cutting the frame figured I'd ask, thanks.

A Rupp Roadster minibike, 1971. I had a Bonanza Ace 100 powered minibike back in the 60's. I still have some of my 70's Rupps. Current underway project is my 71' Hodaka B+ that I lunched the motor when I was 13 and never touched it untill last year. I got a second motor for it so have a spare to play with and want to put it in the Rupp mini which is a challenge due to frame config. I've asked on other minibike forums but have yet to find anyone who's seen one or attempted to do this. I'll do what I have to on the Rupp chassis to fit the Ace motor but it's always easier if someone has gone thru it before to learn from their mistakes. Chain alignment may be a hassle thru the stock chassis jackshaft setup so may run straight to rear wheel but Hodaka 100 power could be an issue on such a short length chain. Anyhow more obstacles to conquer but 1st must deal with Ace fitment.

I had a Rupp Roadster back in the day. 1969 model I believe. It had 5 hp Tecumseh with a 2 speed trans I think. Always wanted a Black Widow. I don't know about putting the Ace motor in that frame but most anything is possible with a grinder and welding machine. I would be tempted to keep the Rupp original.

That's a Bonanza just like the one I had in the 60's. Yes, it has the Hodaka Ace 100 engine and was it FAST!! But the Rupp Roadster chassis is quit different. More like a small motocrosser w/ 12" spoke wheels. I'll post some photo's when I start the project. This is a parts bike as I wouldn't hack up a complete original. Thank you all for some feedback. Good to know people read these and respond. Randy.

The bike in the picture is an early Rupp Roadster. It's said they made a few with Hodaka engines . The Bonanza's came in several different sytles . Here is a picture of one of mine , Also here is a picture of a later Rupp Roadster 2
