New guy here from WNY.
Well I'm new to the forum. Not new to bikes and forums in general though.
I got this site from a very helpful gentleman I actually found on Craigslist.
What brings me to the forum is the long term restoration project of my grandfathers combat wombat. He passed away about 5 Years ago and my mom and uncle where going to give the bike away for someone to beat on around the yard. I refused, and offeredv money for the bike. As I had a rough childhood and my grandfather was the person I looked up to the most, I wanted the bike in the family. He used to race this bike in hare scrambles. He bought it new. Sold it and later stumbled across the bike again and brought it about 2 years before passing away. I have the paperwork for the bike also.
I now race ATVs in TT and hare scrambles and carry on his number. Thanks for the forum full of info!

Welcome to the group! Sounds like you have a fun project in front of you. I was a Hodaka dealer in the day and a Combat Wombat was the last model I ordered and rode before I sold the business in the 70s. I'm back into it after decades of non-Hodaka life after a barn find a couple of years ago. Have fun with the new (and historic) project!

Cool story. There are some great mechanics here willing to help you out and Paul has the parts. I will enjoy watching this one come together.

Cool post ! Combat Wombats are one of my favorite Hodaka models and the relationship with your grandfather reminds me of my own love and friendship with my grandfather. Have fun with your project and enjoy the ride !!!!!

I just got a new phone yesterday. Between my 58 Harley, my 67 f100 , the race quads and two jobs this will be a slow project. But I'll never sell it. So I'm in no rush

hello! You say you were from Western New York? whereabouts? I live in Elma.
I have a couple Combat wombats. I might be able to help you with questions.

I'm over in Pembroke. The clutch is slipping pretty bad. I think that will take priority. Unless I can make internal adjustments.
Also it doesn't like to go into 4th. If I shift to 4th and lightly rest my foot on the shifter it will lock in and hold. Until the clutch slips. Lol
