Finally started super combat project
Finally started super combat project
After months of trying to find the time, I decided to start just bolting the Super Combat back together. The plan is to Basically tidy everything up at this point, see what needs replacing/repairing, ride the damn thing and go from there. The frame paint, although not immaculate, was tidy and original, so it just got a clean up. Same with the engine. The rear shocks are missing bushes, but I can remove & repair easily anytime. The biggest headache is the steering head bearing races. I replaced the balls, but the races are completely stuffed. Will have to try and source some.

Got it together and running today, fired up 2nd kick, sounds great. Clutch is stuck from sitting, but should free up once I get to go for a ride. Just throw the old plastics on for now. Will restore the front end when the races for the head bearings arrive from Paul, then do the back end, then plastics/seat cover etc.

Got 1st good ride in on it today, went like a champion. Shifted great, jetting was pretty close, power was good. Bit of a nervous nelly moment when the front brake cable got caught in the triple clamps (my own fault for putting the front end in arse about, waiting for head bearing races to come before I remove front end for resto). Had my 09 ktm125sx there as well, but still had the biggest smile on the Hodaka, something about riding a bike with character.
