I know that no one cares, but...

Post by Zyx »

Several folks have asked about the forum name, Arizona Shorty, especially some shorter than I am. The name refers to my race Jeep, a 1985 CJ7, powered by a '91 Mustang 5.0 HO fuel injected engine, and modified everywhere but the steering wheel. Raced in Australia in 2002 and 2003 in the ARB/Warn Outback Challenge. The first U.S. vehicle and team to compete in that event. Here's a photo of us clearing a 13' wall from creek bed to desert floor, under power...

Now you know. See, I knew you didn't care, it's not a Hodaka, but we are diverse.

Hey AZ, we do care, nice shot! Also thanks for posting the event shots. We non-goers are glued to the computer screen to get the latest news! :)

Taken during one of the mud run events in Australia in 2003. This only shows one of the two major deep obstacles on this course. Time limit 30 minutes. We did it is 9. As a point of reference, my tires are 36 inch Swampers, so the mud at this point was a bit more than three feet deep.

That's my co-driver Erik Marquez slogging it out to move the winch rope damper closer to the middle of the line. Erik recently retired from the Army as a Command Sargeant Major after four tours in the sandbox. He is also an accomplished motorcycle mechanic and racer, and a tech moderator on the Thumper Talk forum. Erik owns Marquez Racing in Kemper Texas not far from Ft. Hood.
