Will I be able to find one?

Post by Propboy40 »

Greetings everyone.
First off I am new to the group but have visited your website for the last several years. I know everyone has their own Hodaka stories but my twin brother and I grew up on a pair of 1976 (I think) Hodaka Dirt Squirts. We grew up on a farm and my folks were pretty frugal with money and taught us the wisdom of hard work and tight wallets. Anyway... one Christmas when we were young boys my mom and dad surprised us with a couple brand new Dirt Squirts and my sister got a new horse. We were all beside ourselves all winter. My dad would not let us ride them until spring until we had memorized the owners manuals and learned how we were going to take care of them. It was a long, long winter that year but my brother and I loved those two bikes for many many years. They are gone now... and I have restored all the cars I had grown up with and am thinking of trying to find an old Dirt Squirt to make like new again. I have been looking and looking and they seem pretty rare. Are they as hard to find as they seem to be? I guess I just need to know if this is one of those dreams from my youth I should just let go of or pursue. Any advice on words of comfort would be appreciated.
Thanks
Roger

Well Roger, the raffle bike this year at Hodaka Days is the prettiest little chrome tank Dirt Squirt you have ever seen. Chrome on the tank has been re-done and it is wayeeeee better than original. The stainless steel fenders have also been polished to a "t". Who knows, there may be a Dirt Squirt for sale sometime over the weekend too. How far is Duval from Athena? You might want to consider zooming on down. The drawing for the raffle bike will be held Saturday night. You don't have to be present to win . . . but raffle ticket sales are ONLY on-site now.

Squirts Rule. I'll be riding one all weekend . . . well, I may borrow something a bit faster for the Grandpa's Race on Sunday. Maybe . . .

Thank you Ed...I wish I could go there but I am finishing up some projects at home and then have to work. Would love to throw a few bucks into that raffle. In the meantime I bought a Hodaka T shirt identical to the one I had in junior high. So I am slowly working my way back into the club I suppose. I will keep looking... the search is half the fun I suppose. Have fun this weekend. Will look forward to the pics.
Thank you again
Roger
