Crank Case and Fuel
Hello, I just got a 08/74 Hodaka frame letter G. It was behind a barn for years. I got it home and checked if it has fire to the plug and it does, which is awesome! I took the tank and carb off for a good cleaning. Now I want to change the crank case oil. Does anyone know what type of oil I should use, and do I need to mix the fuel, and if so what ratio? It says 98cc. It is a dirtbike with an orange plastic tank, orange fenders and a blue frame. Thanks

Oh no, another oil question. This usually starts a fight!
Put Bel-Ray 80W Gear Saver in the case. It holds 20oz, but will only drain about 16oz without pulling the clutch side cover.
Yes, pre-mix the gas. Yamalube 2R mixed at 32:1 is very popular. You will want non-ethanol gas too.

Thank you Dale, I posted a few pictures. I cleaned the carburetor, and I took off the exhaust pipe, It was full of water? I cleaned all the rust off and I am going to heat it up to burn the carbon out, then spray it with with some high temp manifold paint. This is going to be a cool project.

What is it?
Is the bike a Super Rat?
Re: Crank Case and Fuel
Yes, it appears to be a "late model" Super Rat. The frame number starting with G confirms that. Your 98cc motor should begin with the letter "L". The number can be located on the front of the right side engine case just behind the clutch arm.

98 Super Rat. Most things on the 97 swap over aside from the motor, so a 97 seat should also fit. Without checking I think they have the same part number. If you have the seat base and it is useable, that will save you a bunch of money, just get the foam and cover.Ridgerunner wrote:I need to order a seat but I don't know if its one of these: Model 95 Combat Wombat, 96 Dirt Squirt, 97 Super Combat, 98 Super Rat, 01 Dirt Squirt, 02 Road Toad, 61 SL, 70 SL and Model 71 250 ED.

Re: Crank Case and Fuel
Thank you for the Replies everyone. I am going to try and figure out the forks, there are valves on the top of each and I don't yet know if they hold air or gas or oil.
Re: Crank Case and Fuel
If they are Schrader valves, like tire valve stem, they are part of an air spring conversion.
