100 motor question

Post by Hotshoe »

Hello, I am trying to build a bike for the Marty Tripes Vintage 100 class in S Cal. I would like to use a Hodaka 100 motor. Are all the 100 motors the same or is there a year that would work better for vintage mx racing? Ate the motor mounts the same on all the motors? Could you use a 125 motor and use a 100 cylinder? Thank you, Jay

To have any chance you need the 98 Superrat. If you want to race I would go with a 125 in the 125 class. I say this because we were real involved with the MT 100cc class when they started and like anything it was a big draw. Now its still a big class but for only the post vintage bikes, the vintage twin shocks are pretty much done.

Where are you located?

A late rat engine can be made nearly as fast as a 125, BUT ! Much must be done for it to happen . If you want details give me a call 702=858=9177

I was hoping to race the MT vintage 100 class. The "WORKS" class looked like it was too expensive. Titanium and carbon fiber high dollar bikes. I live up in Sacramento. I thought I would try a couple MT races and maybe some of the AHRMA races. So if that class is slowing down I should probably try something else.

If your racing AHRMA your good with a 100, they get a good turn out and good racing. The MT stuff got out of control even in the vintage class with the money and big bore Hondas.

Probably not reaal easy , but I can ask a few friends , one good thing if you find one that needs a cylinder you can also start with a road toad cylinder base and those you cab find.
