Spoke Wrench

Post by bchappy »

I have a new set of spokes for my Combat Wombat and just wondered what is the recommended spoke wrench for the Combat Wombat. I am measuring the nipples at 5.32mm which would probably need a 5.5mm wrench. Motion Pro doesn't seem to have a 5.5mm wrench. Most are larger. In searching for 5.5mm it seems that is a bicycle wrench. I just don't want to start with an adjustable wrench which is what I have used in the past.

Hey Bill,
I recently bought a new spoke torque wrench with inter-changeable heads. I ordered mine with a 5.6 head and it fit Wills combat wombat spokes and my 03 wombat.

Hey Bill, I just measured the spokes on the 94A and got about 5.2mm. I tried both a Craftsman 5mm end wrench and 5mm spoke wrench and they both worked good. The 5.5mm end wrench was too loose. Hope this helps! :)

Hey Bill,
I measured the 03 spoke nipple and it is 5.68mm. The 5.6 head fit it perfectly. http://www.buchananspokes.com/categorie ... _tools.asp they have spoke wrenches in different sizes that should work for you. They state the wrench is made to fit the nipple.
