Ready for the 2015 trials season
I made some upgrades to the Spyder this weekend that I thought I would share.
The front fender now matches the rear in color.
New tank badges. The old ones were getting wrinkled from the gas osmoses.
Motion-Pro throttle.
New grips

Lookin' good, Rick! Watch out for those trees; I assume the MotionPro throttle has a auto-release, so you can't lock it on...

Rick, as you are the master East Coast Hodaka Junk Yard Association trials rider, have you fully mastered the helium filled tires yet? You need to give the Association members a full report on the advantages of this modification since first attempted at Mid Ohio some years ago.

Mike,
Since you are the Pension Fund Manager for the East Coast Hodaka Junk Yard Association, I need to inform you that having Helium filled tires are out of the question. Having tires that are lighter than air might affect my ability to "keep the rubber side down"
Or are you trying to lighten the participants in the Pension Fund?

Please check your Motion Pro throttle out very carefully. I bought one a few years back that was really cheesey (I didn't even install it) and I've heard tons of horror stories about them sticking since.

Re: Ready for the 2015 trials season
I bought it from Paul..!
I didn't install the rubber cover so I could access the components better. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I tested it out riding around my front yard. Once I had the hysteresis adjust out of it, I liked the way it responded.
I guess time will tell. Good thing it's a trials bike and not a CC or MX bike. A stuck throttle might soil my shorts.
Oh, and I re-did my kill switch too. Doubled the grounding connection with a wire to the frame.

Opps, forgot that the members told me to keep the filling your tires with helium at Mid Ohio a secret, now you know. Almost all the members have noticed an improvement in your riding since then.

Re: Ready for the 2015 trials season
I will be riding my first trials of the season Saturday May 2nd. I am a bit rusty and don’t want a repeat performance of last year’s fiasco at Hodaka Days 2014.
Tried to post a photo, but I kept getting bumped off. I don't know why? But, I final got it. Compressed the photo. That might have done it.

Re: Ready for the 2015 trials season
My objective was to shake off the rust and test out the bike and my body. Both survived and finished without major incident. I do need to replace my crap kill switch though. It shorted out twice. I have a brand new one I will install before HD15.
The trials were held by the White Rose MC Club in Spring Grove, PA. They have been doing trials for 45 years. A wonderful venue in the woods and hillside. They do hill climbs there too.
The trials consisted of 8 sections, 4 loops on a 3.5 mile course. It took me until the third loop to find my groove. I met my objective of surviving the day and completing the course in the allotted 4 hours. I was the last rider to report back at the end of the day. I went through 2 Red Bulls, 3 Gatorades and 2 bottles of ice tea. Food, 1 Oscar Myer P3. My 68 year old body is a bit sore, but it is a good hurt.
