Greetings from England

Post by greggyboy »

Hi all.

I have a 125 Wombat as in the photo. Took it out for a ride a few days ago, went really well. Parked it up for a few days. On my return I found oil on the floor and oil on the chain, front sprocket and rear wheel.

Does anybody do spares in England? Also are there similar carbs that will fit the Wombat. Getting spares for them seems impossible here.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

Greg.

Hi Greg and welcome! Your oil leak may be coming from a loose countershaft nut. Very common and easy to fix situation. As far as Hodaka spares....I would suggest checking the internet for vintage motorcycle groups or clubs on your local level. I imagine that there are local guys in your area that are into the vintage scene and could point you to any local sources for spares. There is always the internet auction place. I no longer suggest any particular place to purchase stuff but a little time on the computer will provide a number of Hodaka suppliers here in the US. Again, welcome!

Hi Greg, There was quite a discussion on the Forum recently about that type of leak. The gang chimed in with all kinds of advice concerning the seal, control shaft O-ring and over filling of the oil. We also decided the first thing to check was the countershaft nut that secures the sprocket which can commonly be the problem if loose.

Most parts are available through the Strictly Hodaka site and I wouldn't think shipping would be a problem.

Cool bike Greg, I have one of the same model! I had that leak and it was the loose sprocket nut causing it.

Anyway, hope this helps!

Max

Oops--I see Charlie has chimed in with the same advice, We agree on a lot of things! :D
