68 ace project

Post by kc57 »

Just picked up my latest Hodaka purchase. The early race prepped bikes have really got my attention. It started with the yellow 68 ace that I picked up last year ( the one with the rusty tank on the cover of the Hodaka calander) And then Clarence was kind enough to show me his bike. What a beauty ! So when this came up I had to get it. The story is that this bike was Frank Forrester's ?? . I was told that he was involved with Hodaka. But I have no proof of this , Anyway who ever built it clearly was not afraid changing a few things.

The steering neck has been stretched, Swing arm mounts moved to backside of frame. Footpegs relocated. Seat hoop extended and raised. Rear brake modified to full floater. Swing arm reinforced, Homemade? expansion chamber. Oh yeah and VanTech forks. I am sure there are a couple more changes I have missed

I was able to get the Frame , swing arm, rear wheel and expansion chamber. With the help of my parts pile and hopefully a couple of ( Hodaka friends) I am going to try and have it rolling for Hodaka day's. Off to the blast cabinet!

I like the forks! Check mine on my picture on the right. Hey Charlie, got any of those in the shed? It could define a direction for the "Day One" project!
