Max bore 125 combat wombat?

Post by taber hodaka »

What was the max oversize bore for the 125 combat wombat. The piston measures 2.25 and it looks like it is stamped 90 over. Was there such a thing? -------- I got all my lighting figured out with gas cheap and all I am going to use a colman lantern taped on with duct tape and a hose clamp for safety . The way I figure it when I'm out of gas I probably do not need lights. Warm and no snow here in the west . 15 miles from Glacier Park .-------------Clarence

4th oversize taps out to 2.244" (57mm) -- which is the largest of the OEM pistons. I wonder if the "9" you see in the stamping might be a slightly damaged "4"? The largest oversize piston I've heard of for a 125 Hodie is +.080" - something like 58mm (2.283")

Ok thank you Clarence this is an older style Wiseco piston. It is not one of the newer Strictly Hodaka Wiseco pistons. I just was wondering.
Thank you!!

Sounds to me like the size of your piston might be a worn down .060" over. Turn the piston around and see if that .090 could be a .060. The old Wiseco pistons came in .060 and .080.

Sorry should have said this previously. No one including Wiseco ever made a +.90 size Hodaka piston. It must be a +.60 the measurement given suggests this. A +.60 Wiseco 125 piston for SH is 2.264"

Great lighting concept, Clarence! Perhaps you should do an illustrated article for the Resonator Revisited on this, as it would work equally well on all models!
Here in Oregon (San Diego Norte') it is 60 degrees and the daffodils and other flowers are a month ahead of normal.

Hey Clarence,
This is kinda funny but I have this old Wiesco Piston on my desk as a paper weight. (From 40+ years ago – 100cc). It does look like it's a .090 over.
Mine still has the decimal showing it to be a .060. It appears to be stamped on the wrong side of the crown. You're off the hook!
