Mods to a RT cylinder to make it similar to 98 Rat?

Post by AndyL »

Ok, sorry for asking, I know its been covered before buy I cant find it in the archives.

What are the mods that must be done to a RT cylinder to make it similar to the 98 Rat cylinder?

I ended up with just enough parts to assemble a 98 bottom end and ignition and have a stock bore RT cylinder and piston.

What do I have to do to make them play well together?

I noticed there was a post on the Yahoo group mentioning that you were looking for a reply. For some reason I din't notice this thread earlier.

I just finished modifying a Toad cylinder a few months back. Basically you need to raise the exhaust port so that is 28mm from the top of the cylinder. I used Hodaka Hot Tip HT-7. http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/v/vspfile ... s/aHt7.pdf I also widened the booster ports as shown in the article. You will also need a Super Rat head to bring the compression back up.

Thanks Brian (and Kevin from the old Yahoo Group).

That is the info I was looking for but couldnt recall where I saw it.

I have a couple of old RT cylinders and will see what kind of mess I can make with them this winter.
