73 WOMBAT 125 front end compatability
Hello, just wondering if a 125 Wombat triple tree, steering fork bracket, and upper and lower races(including ball bearings) will fit on an Ace 100? Thanks.

30s are 30s I think it should work. I have 32mm with the penton triple and with some simple mod it all bolts in.

There isn't that much difference between parts as between the 100 and 125, depending on which model you are referring to. Both, I think, are 30mm. The entire fork assembly, wheel and all, should swap without changing the triple clamps, and I think all of them use the same head bearings and races. Check the parts schematic for the two you have in mind and see if the differ internally. If they don't differ, one is about as good as another. Many are dead ringers, so just changing forks from a 125 to a 100 machine may not get you anything you don't already have. All but the model 93 Super Rat are readily rebuildable. Of those that are rebuildable, there are two general styles. I have yet to find the reasoning behind which internal style fork was chosen for which model bike. Just stay away from the model 93 if you can because they don't hold up as well as the more complex style found otherwise, and new tubes are not available. I found out the hard way.

Just as a FYI, the last variant of the 93 Super Rat (model 93B), had forks that were the same as the Ace 100 (92B+) and Wombat (94).

93B did, 93 didn't. I don't even remember when I swapped out my 92B forks for 93, but I did. One short season and 30 years of pooping around in the yard, and they were toast. Back to the 92B style now and much more happy. I was just tossing that out there because until recently, I just didn't know there was a difference with the 93 forks.

Thanks for all of your input everyone. I have 30mm ceriani forks but i don't have my triple trees or good races. Im looking at a good deal on a 73 wombat 125 upper and lower triples with races. Just wondering if they will fit into my ace 100 steering tube. Guess I'll go for that deal.
