case repair

Post by Ron »

Can anyone recommend someone who could repair a case damaged by the chain coming off.
Thanks, Ron

If you're not too picky what it looks like, you can repair it yourself like I did with jb-weld and a piece of roof flashing cut to right size...thorough cleaning and wipe-down with acetone seemed to make jb weld stick good.

a more artistic j-b welder could no doubt do a prettier job.

Note the weather stripping between case and inside cover eventually got soaked with gas and wouldn't stick back in there good next time I removed case. I just cleaned and filled in the gap with silicon sealer, brown because that's what I had.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I should have posted a pic originally.
Here's what needs repair. It's actually a 1970 Yamaha 250 DT1C center case.
I'm in the process of restoring this bike and figured now is the time to have it repaired.
