shifting into 4th gear

Does anyone know what would was cause a combat wombat to go into neutral when shifting from 4th to 5th gear? Sometimes, as you accelerate it will jump into 5th abruptly, but as you let off the throttle it goes back into 4th.

Could be worn components within the shift cover , Maybe out of adjustment , but if all the other gears engage fine its probably not he adjustment. Also control shaft springs could be out of life .
