How to Post a Video?
How to Post a Video?
I just started an overhauled Ace 100 engine that has a weird buzzing noise just above idle. I would like to post a video of it running but can't figure out how to post a video. Can someone school me on this?
thanks,
Chris

I don't think you can post a video on this site...just photos.
If you are on Facebook, join the Hodaka Club or Hodaka Motorcycles group and post the video there, Then, instead of trying to decipher the knowledgeable responses from the wild a&& guesses, put up a post here asking for responses here to your Facebook post (if that makes since).

Did I post a video? Down about 20 in the posts? (Clarence Taber thanks taxpayers ---)

Chris, The best option is to post your video to Youtube or similar and then post a link to it here on this forum.

Gents - Thanks for your response. Posting a video looks to be above my computer skill level. I should probably start a separate post about this rpm dependent buzzing noise. I already disassembled the engine and found the connecting rod side clearance to be excessive, which I corrected along with a minor adjustment to the crankshaft runout. I'm hoping that was the source of the buzzing noise, as it sounded like it was coming from the crankshaft. The engine sounded fine except for just above idle it would buzz in a very narrow rpm window. Revving above that it sounded good. It is a freshly overhauled engine with new top end, all bearings, seals, electronic ignition. It has only been run for a few minutes at lower throttle settings.

A long shot, but it may not be internal. Sometimes an RPM dependent vibration (maybe not considered a buzz?) occurs when the engine mounting bolts are not centered. Loosen the mounting bolts and leverage the motor so that the bolts are centered in the mounting bracket holes and then tighten.
A second thought is the clutch disc. They can sure make some strange noises! Easy enough to try a different one.

Re: How to Post a Video?
I have seen gas tanks go into a vibration, where the inside flat metal of the tank goes over the frame, it last a short time at a rpm point. I put a piece of foam over the frame under the gas tank, -----Clarence
Re: How to Post a Video?
Thanks Dale and Clarence. I called it a buzz, but I think it is a resonance. It occurred at the same frequency, just above idle, when rpms are increased and again when the rpms decreased, only lasting about a second. I closed up the connecting rod side clearance from 0.017" down to 0.005" with my press. the engine is still apart, as I am waiting for a speedi-sleeve I ordered for the left crankshaft seal area. All the clutch discs are new. Took the engine completely apart and can't find anything else wrong. Checked throughout for looseness while it was running. Compression check was good, timing correct, engine mount bolts were tight. When I install the engine back in the frame, I will center it on the bolts, and listen for any vibration coming from the gas tank. Full on winter here now so testing will be limited until spring.
