Wombat carb question?

Post by hodakaguy »

I have a Wombat carb that has no spray bar. Is this carb useable? I heard they were pretty bad but since I don't race and only trail ride, will this carb be OK?

Thanks in advance.

No, it will not be okay and that is not just my opinion. You will never get the bike to run correctly throughout the throttle range and it will drive you nuts with temperature and altitude changes. I'd recommend the replacement carb and shorter boot package that Paul offers. The type A carb that you have is considered to be better as a pencil holder. My experience with it makes me doubt that it would even be good for that.

Keep in mind that there are parts of the carb that are interchangable. It is the main body that is of no use to a 2-stroke motor.

Dale gave you the straight skinny (though I still think the "A" type carb body makes a nifty pencil holder). ;)

You could fabrica a UFO for the slide and make that carb work fine . The UFO shrouds the nedle jet improving the signal it gets besides it will improve performane throughout no matter what carb you use. BUT they dont make one for the 24mm but they can be easily modified from another size I have done this alot .
