Hey Captain Ed….

Post by viclioce »

I just bought a new 175SL set of fenders from Paul at Predton Petty!

Can you explain to me the procedure Hodaka used to trim the bumps for the Petty tail light off the fender to make it look like its original?

Here’s a pic of my old original fender.

Thanks in advance! :ugeek: Victor

I don't know whether modifications were made during the molding process . . . or after molding at the factory in Japan. Sorry, I just don't know.

PS: It would be easy to misinterpret my previous message. I meant modifications to the supplied molded fenders . . . with the modifications being done at the factory in Japan. (But I don't know.)

According to Paul Stannard…

“The correct rear fender is the IT rear fender.
Hodaka used this fender but removed the raised boss areas for a flatter fender. Then used the DOT approved taillight instead of Preston’s.”

Waiting to hear back from Paul, but thought maybe Ed knew. Based on what Paul said I was led to believe the Petty fenders were added after the 175SL bikes were shipped to the U.S. :ugeek: Victor

I would just use a little block of wood and sand paper using finer paper as you get close. No sweat small stuff. --- Clarence
