Alan & I have been using this red paint. It applies easily, and accepts multiple coats without cracking or wrinkling. Not expensive, easy to apply and holds up very well! Rustoleum 2X Apple Red. And it’s a paint & primer in one! :ugeek: Victor

I got the frame and tank and most parts today back from paint. It's a dodge flame red 2011 to 2013.

Now I will start getting the chasis put together.

Don’t know if you have painted yet. Here’s another paint suggestion!

I tried the Rustoleum Ssfety red, but it doesn’t second coat well, without several days (a week or more) in between coats.

I found the Rustoleum 2X Paint & Primer In One, in Apple Red. It’s identical in color to the Safety Red. It dries very quickly & second coats without cracking or orange peeling. I highly recommend it!

They also make the 2X in clear. It’s great for applying over stickers & decals. Using multiple coats of clear,,’you can spray and buff back for a good shine as well as protection. And these are all available in rattle can!

Just passing the info on! :ugeek: Victor

Yes. That's the parts as I received them yesterday. The minor parts are jet black and the rest are 2011 to 2013 dodge flame red. There are a few more parts still to be done in the next few days.

Updating this thread. It has been an interesting two years. Lots of time in the hospital and not much time to get things done. Unfortunately, I have to go on disability, just can't work at my job anymore. I can manage a couple hours a day outside working on easy projects, so I started working on this project again. I have it mostly together, so plan to start diagnosing it soon, as far as what is needed to get it running. I hope for updates in the near future.

I started tearing down the motor a hit at a time to see what I will be needing for the engine.

Found the primary gear with several broken teeth. I am not sure what is broken in the trans or other gears to cause this damage, or what in general could have caused the damage.

I found a parts list for the dirt squirt. Hoping i.can figure out the part number, as the second digit is not real clear. It should be a 2,3 or 4. I can find it on hodaka-parts.com, so that is encouraging.

I have seen the primary gears on the old Ace 100's break from time to time, but I hadn't seen one of a Dirt Squirt break. I had been told the primary gears on the Ace and the Dirt Squirt were cast metal, while the primary gears on a Super Rat were forged. Never saw a primary gear fail on a Super Rat. On the ones I have seen fail, I never saw internal transmission damage (unless the bike was ridden while still broken).
Count the teeth on the primary, on a Dirt Squirt it should have 65 teeth. That would be part # 924502. When replacing, I would do it as a set, the front (clutch pinion gear) and the primary gear.

Copy that. Yes I believe it's 924502.
